The course is designed to introduce students to a wide range of tourism activities. Tourism is the world’s largest industry and this course aims to develop the students’ knowledge of the world of travel and tourism to assist them in gaining employment in the industry.
It may be possible to offer work placements for students during the course of their study.
Applicants should be able to tackle an advanced level course. This could be demonstrated by higher grades or national qualifications units. Mature applicants with no formal qualifications who believe they would benefit from the course are encouraged to apply.
The course will look at different aspects of tourism, including pleasure travel and business travel. There is also a strong emphasis on practical IT. Students will study subjects relating to the business world and how tourism fits in the global economy.
Vocational languages at different levels are also offered,
to enhance the opportunity of international employment. Skills developed prepare students for progression onto a higher level of study.
Local and international trips are included in the course to encourage a practical approach to the curriculum.
The student is able to progress onto HND Tourism after successfully obtaining their HNC. With tourism being the world’s largest industry and employer, wide-ranging employment opportunities exist.
