Friday, May 25, 2012

Ayr College has been celebrating being awarded Silver Status in the Investors in People Framework - an accolade achieved by just a handful of organisations in Scotland. This week Peter Russian Chief Executive of Investors in People Scotland visited the college to present the award.

Mr Russian stated; “Ayr College has shown a real and tangible commitment to improvement which is demonstrated in their achievement of Silver status. That this has been achieved against a backdrop of challenging times is even more impressive, and illustrates that investing in people isn’t a luxury, but an essential characteristic of successful organisations”.

A rigorous assessment involving over 50 staff resulted in the College receiving the status which is currently held by just 29 organisations across the country. Director of HR Kerry Kirk explains; “We were assessed across 110 areas and of these only one was identified as requiring further development, resulting in a score of 99.1%. There are 1,300 organisations in Scotland who meet IIP standards, but currently only 2.2% of them have Silver Status, with even less achieving Gold. Ayr College is recognised as being a sector leader in people management and we are firmly committed to continuing to improve our performance through our people.”
