Course Details

What You Need

You will need three relevant Standard Grades at Foundation Level, or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 3 or equivalent.

A place on the course is subject to an interview process

You may also be asked to undertake a Core Skills test to determine that you have the required skills to be successful on the course.

Who is this course for?

You may know that you are creative but are not sure which path is the right one for you!

This diverse course will give you a taste of different creative topics and help you decide which route is the right one for you.

What subjects will I be studying?

During the course you will study the following subjects:

Pottery
Jewellery
Drawing
Printing
Sculpture

You will also learn design and display by using photography and video which will help to improve your artistic and creative skills.

How many days will I be in college?

Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake continuous class based assessments throughout the course.

Moving On

Students who successfully complete the NQ Arts and Crafts course could apply to do either the SCQF Level 5 Portfolio Preparation course or the NQ Visual Communiation course. Exceptional students may be considered for either the HNC Art and Design or the HNC Visual Communication.

This will depend on your results and positive feedback from your lecturers during the course.

You could also decide to look for employment in the craft sector.

How do I fund my course?

You should apply for a Bursary. You can get a Bursary/EMA Application Pack from the Student Finance Office located in the Student Information Centre at Ayr Campus once you have been offered a place on the course.
