Course Details

What You Need

You will need a minimum of one relevant Higher at Grade C or above, or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent. Applicants with appropriate experience or other training may be accepted without formal qualifications.

A place on this course is subject to an interview process.

A portfolio is mandatory.

Who is this course for?

This course would be ideal for someone who is looking to develop a career in Media, Advertising, Graphic Design, Illustration and Animation.

We will help you develop a combination of graphic design, illustration and photography skills.

This course will also help you develop a blend of specialist and general graphic design and illustration skills.

What subjects will I be studying?

As the course progresses your studies will include the following subjects:

Art and Design Creative Project
Creative Industries – An Introduction
Digital Imaging
New Media
Printmaking
Visual Communication
Developmental Drawing
Graphic Design
Illustration
Photography
Graded Unit 1

How many days will I be in college?

Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake continuous assessments throughout the course.

Moving On

Students who successfully complete the HNC course may be considered for the HND Visual Communication course.

This will depend on your results and positive feedback from your lecturers throughout the course.

Students may also decide to look for employment in the graphic design, illustration and photography sectors.
