Course Details

What You Need

You will need to have successfully passed the HNC Art and Design to be considered for this course.

Who is this course for? Anyone wanting to take their HNC qualification to the next level.

The HND Art and Design is an alternative to the second year of an art school degree programme.

We will help you prepare for the rigours of the art world as well as enhancing your opportunities for employment by equipping you with a full range of transferable skills.

What subjects will I be studying?

During the course you will study the following subjects:

Painting Life Drawing
Developmental Drawing
Printmaking
Sculpture
Art & Design Context


You will work alongside the lecturers to devise projects throughout the year focussing on areas of personal interest, and will be involved in organising an exhibition of your work.

How many days will I be in college?

Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake continuous assessments throughout the course.

Moving On

Students who successfully complete the course may apply to universities or art schools to enter 2nd or 3rd year degree programmes.

Students may also decide to look for employment in the creative industries.
