Who is this course for?
Anyone who wants to take their Accounting skills to a higher level perhaps with a view to continuing to university to gain the qualifications needed to become a qualified Accountant.
A qualification in Accountancy opens many opportunities to students who could go on to take professional exams with the main accountancy bodies such as ACCA or CIMA.
What subjects will I be studying?
Some of the subjects you studied at HNC will be developed to a much higher level during the HND. You will also study some new topics for the first time:
Financial Accounting
Management Accounting for Decision Making purposes
Published Limited Co Accounts
Law
Contract Accounting
Accounting for Share Issues
Hire Purchase
Taxation
Graded Units
How will I be assessed?
You will experience a wide variety of assessment methods throughout the year. While most assessments are class based, home study will also be necessary.
There will be one exam (Graded Unit) at the end of the year, and a project to complete during the year.
How many days will I be in college?
Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.
Moving On
Progression to employment or university, which may include articulation arrangements with a variety of degree courses.
Success in the HND Accounting will allow you exemptions from examinations for ACCA and CIMA which are both professional qualifications.
