You will need a minimum of one relevant Higher at Grade C or above, or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent. Applicants with appropriate experience or other training may be accepted without formal qualifications.
A place on this course is subject to an interview process.
Applicants are also expected to have practical music experience (i.e. play an instrument OR have knowledge of a music software package).
Mature students without equivalent educational qualifications but have suitable experience, are encouraged to apply.
This course is designed to provide the knowledge and practical skills appropriate to employment in the music technology industry, or to allow progression to the HND Sound Production course.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to work within sound production in the studio and live sound environment. Using a variety of software and hardware, you will learn the theory and practical skills required for further investigation into this exciting career.
The College has an excellent reputation for further study and employment within this area and as a Certified Training Location for Digidesign and Ableton, we offer Industry standard equipment and training which we have used to deliver courses to BBC, ITV, Studio and Arts professionals from across the UK. You are also given the full Pro Tools 101 course (usually over £200) for the price of the book (£20).

What can I do next?
If you are successful in passing the HNC you may be considered to progress to HND Sound Production at Ayr College. You can also apply for 2nd year entry to some degree courses at the University of West of Scotland and Glasgow Caledonian University.
This will depend on your results and positive feedback from your lecturers as to your suitability.
