You will need three relevant Standard Grades at Foundation Level, or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 3 or equivalent.
Those without formal qualifications, but who have an interest in the subject area should also apply.
A place on the course is subject to an interview process.
Students who have suitable alternative qualifications may also be considered.
All students will be interviewed and you may be asked to sit a Core Skills test after your interview to determine that you meet the required level to be successful on this course.

You may be thinking about a career as an Early Years Support Worker or Practitioner.
This introductory level course will help you develop the skills, knowledge and qualities you will need to undertake further education and training to progress in a career in Early Years.

Basic Needs of Children
Play
Working in an Early Education & Childcare Setting
Care of Children
Parenting
Maintenance of a Safe Environment for Children
Core Skills
There is no practical placement on this course.
How many days will I be in college?
Normally 3 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.
How will I be assessed?
You will undertake continuous class based assessments during the course.
What can I do next?
Progression on to a wide range of relevant vocational courses at SCQF Level 5 or employment.
Progression will depend on your results and positive feedback from your lecturers.
How do I fund my course?
You should apply for a Bursary. You can get a Bursary/EMA Application Pack from the Student Finance Office located in the Student Information Centre at Ayr Campus once you have been offered a place on the course.
