Course Details

How do I get in?

You will need four relevant Standard Grades at Credit Level, or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 5 or equivalent.

A place on the course is subject to an interview process.

Who is this course for?

This course would suit students who wish to achieve a business qualification and bridges the gap from NC to HNC level.

What subjects will I be studying?

You will receive a thorough preparation for future jobs in the business sector and your studies will include:

Introduction to Office Management
Administrative Services
Audio
Customer Care
Business Documents
Time Management
IT Skills consisting of Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases and Presentation Software (Level 6/7)*
Core Skills (Level 5/6)
Personal Learning Development

* A Professional Development Award (PDA) of IT in Business will be awarded on completion of 3 Units at HN level; this Award certificates a defined set of occupational skills.

How will I be assessed?

You will have continual class based assessments for all Subjects throughout the year.

How many days will I be in college?

Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.

What can I do next?

Progression on to a wide range of relevant vocational courses at SCQF Level 7 or employment.

Progression to any of the above courses will depend on your results and positive feedback from your lecturers throughout the year.

How do I fund my course?

You should apply for a Bursary. You can get a Bursary/EMA Application Pack from the Student Finance Office located in the Student Information Centre at Ayr Campus once you have been offered a place on the course.
