You will need three relevant Standard Grades at General Level or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 4 or equivalent.
A place on this course is subject to an interview process.
You may also be asked to sit a Core Skills test at interview to determine that you have the appropriate level of skills to be successful on the course.
Who is this course for?
Anyone who has a keen interest in the Creative Industries and a strong desire to develop this interest into a career or an area for further study.
This course will provide students with the skills to take them on into employment or make informed decisions on more specialised courses in Further Education. It will raise awareness of the Creative Industries in the UK and the opportunities within this sector in terms of job roles and career paths and provide a broad ranging skill set that covers a variety of roles and subject areas relevant to working in the creative industries.
What subjects will I be studying?
A range of vocational skills will be developed through Media Production, Music and Sound Production, Performing Arts and Studio/Theatre technical skills. The course will also feature aspects of Photography and 2D/3D Computer Animation. These vocational skills will be underpinned by a range of Essential and Core Skills (Communication, Working with Others, Problem Solving and IT) and Employability Skills (Deadlines and Time Management, Planning and Organisation, Event Organisation, Enterprise Projects).
All of the above are developed throughout the year, in a mixture of practical projects and theory, and will finally come together in one mixed media performance piece produced and performed live for an audience.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments will be carried out continuously throughout the course in a variety of ways: written, presentation and practical activities.
How many days will I be in college?
Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.
Moving On
You can apply to progress to a range of SCQF Level 6 courses based on your talents and interests: NQ Film and Broadcasting, NC Performing Arts, NC Music and NC Sound Production.
Progression is based on successful completion of the course and positive feedback from your lecturers.
