You will need a minimum of one relevant Higher at Grade C or above, or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent. Applicants with appropriate experience or other training may be accepted without formal qualifications.
A place on this course is subject to an interview process.
This should not deter mature students from applying who may not have qualifications as they will be interviewed and considered on an individual basis.
Who is this course for?
Do you know your Rabbie Burns from your Bonnie Prince Charlie? Do you know your Sorrento from your Seville? Learn how to become a part of the tourism industry both in Scotland and abroad and how tourism contributes to the economy of a country.
You will be introduced to a wide range of activities relating to tourism which will expand your knowledge of the travel and tourism industry.
What subjects will I be studying?
You will learn about the different aspects of tourism, including pleasure and business travel. You will find a strong influence on IT applications and you will study subjects relating to the business world and how tourism fits in the global economy.
The Units you will be studying include:
Structure of the Travel and Tourism Industry
International Tourism Destinations
How will I be assessed?
There will be continuous assessments throughout the year running in tandem with an ongoing Graded Unit which will take the form of a project.
How many days will I be in college?
Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.
What can I do next?
HND Travel and Tourism (SCQF Level 8) or progression to employment or university, which may include articulation arrangements with a variety of degree courses.
This will depend on your results and positive feedback from your lecturers as to your suitability.
