You will need a minimum of one relevant Higher at Grade C or above, or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent. Applicants with appropriate experience or other training may be accepted without formal qualifications.
A place on this course is subject to an interview process.
Who is this course for?
This course will help to develop knowledge and skills in Biomedical/Biological/Forensic Science. It will allow students to explore a range of topics including Cell Biology, Physiology, Microbiology and Biochemistry. Chemistry, Quality and Health and Safety, ICT and Presentation Skills are also important elements of the course.
Throughout the course great emphasis is put on essential skills and practical application of knowledge and understanding. As a result many laboratory practical sessions are undertaken which allow students to develop good lab skills for progression or employment in areas such as the Health Service.

Normally 3/4 days, however you will be given your timetable when you attend your Induction Day.
How will I be assessed?
There is at least one year long project in this course. Assessment is also delivered by means of class-based tests and reports throughout the year.
What can I do next?
HND Biomedical Sciences (SCQF Level 8) or progression to employment or university, which may include articulation arrangements with a variety of degree courses.
