Wednesday, June 20, 2012 Last week Ayr College fashion students unveiled their summer collections at their Keep Calm and Catwalk fashion show.
The pre-show activities consisted of a denim design competition where college students were asked to get creative with their old denim jeans and recyle them into something new. Some beautiful examples were exhibited at the show including shoes, bags and other accessories beautifully embellished with surface decorations.
The recycling theme continued as visitors to the fashion show were greeted at the door by welcome hosts wearing garments made from recycled prospectuses! The students distributed programmes and beautiful handmade boxes of sweets.
This year all classes from school link, Access, NC, HNC,HND, evening classes and the hair and beauty students were all involved in the spectacular show.
Rebekah Falconer, fashion student said, It has been really fulfilling seeing our designs develop from simple drawings on paper into final finished garments and this event has been the highlight of the year when we get to show the whole college and our family and friends our years work.
Curriculum Manager Dianne Quinn comments, This has been a really exciting and rewarding end to a busy year. As usual the students have put on a tremendous show and we are all very proud to see their finished work. We also announced the winners of our Fashion Hair and Beauty awards and I would like to congratulate all the winners.
